Alina Donahue is an ardent advocate for survivors of human trafficking. In 2020, she served as co-creator of The Shelly Stayer Shelter’s Human Trafficking Residential Program in Immokalee, FL. This 18-month program serves as a national model, leading the fight in providing aftercare services to adult, female survivors of sex trafficking.

Alina grew up in Naples, FL and attended Florida Southwestern State College. Alina is certified by the Florida Crime Prevention Training Institute through the Office of the Attorney General. She served as a recognized victim advocate at the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit, assisting and empowering victims to testify against their abusers in court. While serving on the Project Recovery Program team at the Collier County Jail, Alina worked with inmates to overcome addiction and mental health issues. The program also included Healthy Relationships classes to reduce the recidivism rate of program attendees. Alina’s personal story of overcoming the horrors of human trafficking has led dozens of incarcerated women to come forward and disclose that they, too, have been victims of human trafficking.

Today, Alina travels the country teaching law enforcement agencies about Human Trafficking Interdiction and Operations.

She proudly supports all law enforcement agencies, especially the Collier County Sheriff’s Office! In 2021, Naples Illustrated recognized her as one of the Top 100 Ones to Watch for her achievements as a young, minority community leader. Alina is a graduate of the Associate Leadership Collier Class of 2018 and the Leadership Collier Class of 2024.
